Kalon Venture Partners, a registered Section 12J Venture Capital Company, are thrilled to invite you to our live, online capital raising event. Taking place via a live Zoom webinar on Wednesday 27 January from 4pm – 6pm (CAT), this free event will acquaint you with Kalon Venture Partners and assist you in taking advantage of the investment prospects available through the 100% tax-free Section 12J investment. Kalon Venture Partners is a Venture Capital Company (VCC) investing in disruptive technology startups.

About Section 12J

By investing in a Section 12J venture capital company, you will not only qualify for a full deduction of the total investment amount from your taxable income in the relevant tax year, but you will also indirectly support the South African economy and the growth of local SMEs.

As a Section 12J VCC Kalon Venture Partners manages investments in qualifying startups with the single objective of stimulating investment in local small to medium enterprises (SMMEs), with the aim of leading to GDP growth and job creation.

2021 is potentially the last time to take advantage of the 100% tax-free Section 12J investment, as the government has not yet extended the June 2021 sunset clause. Fortunately, this decision will have no impact on Kalon, as we will continue with the deployment of capital, as well as building the businesses towards an exit.

It is important to understand that section 12J investments are considered medium to long term investment vehicles. It is not advisable to invest in a Section 12J VCC unless you can commit to a minimum of a five-year investment. An investment will not reach its full potential in less than five years, and investors will not qualify for tax-deductibility if their investment is withdrawn before the five-year period has elapsed.
